These are a few samples of my student's April writings using the April Calendar Words.

One of my little guys remembered the word "traditions" from our December Calendar Words.  It was so exciting to see him apply this word after so many months.  He asked me if he could circle it because it was a calendar word.  Some of my kiddos will actually say "That is one of our calendar words" when they see it in a book.

Here are a few May samples. I just love what this ELL student wrote using the word of the day-culture. "Culture is where you do your own thing." Y'all can see these calendar words have really helped to improve my student's writing:)

Here my kiddos are playing this Brain Bounce game as a read around the room.  They read the question and write the answer on the recording sheet.  You can also divide them into teams to play or use the cards as a center.
This is the copy of the student calendar that comes with our Word of the Day Calendars.  My students were using them to help them with Brain Bounce.  The ELL teacher said our Word of the Day Products are really helping her ELL students with learning monthly vocabulary in a fun way.

This money bundle and Monkey Money Scoot are fun ways to teach your kids about money.   The bundle has a 4 week lesson plan and has a fun coin rap with little puzzles that have the words on it about each coin. There are also coin books, games, coin chart, sheets and more.  The Monkey Money Scoot gets your kids up and moving as they "Scoot" from desk to desk, answering questions on task cards.

My kiddos love using the coin books in a math center with coin manipulatives.

And finally, a great way to end your year is our Busy Year Poem and Craftivity. The kiddos love making the bee and using it to recite the poem.

This is one of my kiddos buzz.... ing in my ear:)

These are only a few of the ways you can make moments count in the classroom.  Check out our store  for our many other products, and be sure to follow our store for updates on new products.  Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

Sunflower Activity and Plant FREEBIE!

So, we decided to start Fun Friday a couple of days early because this sunflower project is taking us a few days to complete.  But it will be worth it. We want to say a big thank you to our wonderful ELL teacher Jen Posgai for sharing this fun craft with us:)
First you fold a large piece of blue construction paper at the bottom so your kiddos will know where to glue tissue paper and brown construction paper.  We just had the kids tear it to give it a textured look.

Then you give them a stem to glue or ya'll can just have them cut one out themselves.  Give them a rectangular green piece of paper the width of the blue paper and show them how to cut it to make grass.  remind them not to cut all the way to the top.

Next they can curl the pieces with their fingers.  This makes it look more like grass.  Then they will glue the grass at the top of the brown paper.

Give your kiddos a folded piece of green paper to make the leaves.  Show them how to cut on the fold to make 2 leaves.

We talked about the seed's coat and how it splits  and showed them how to split a sunflower seed with their teeth so they could see the seed in the middle.  They loved doing that!  Then they glued the pieces at the bottom of the stem.
We gave the students a piece of yarn they cut into 3 pieces and glued for the roots.

We will let all of that dry and we hope ya'll will come back tomorrow and see the next part of our sunflower project.  It's going to be awesome!:)
Welcome Back! This is what we did the second day.
We gave the kiddos a folded piece of yellow and orange paper and this petal pattern to trace.  They traced it two times on the folded paper.  Then cut them out.  This gave each student 8 orange petals and 8 yellow ones.

Then they glued the petals in a pattern on the stem.

We gave them a black circle to glue in the middle and sunflower seeds on the black circle.

Then we labeled the parts and the needs of the plants.

We will write about our picture and add a fun detail that will give us a 3-D effect.
We chose to do this the next day:

This was the final thing we added to our sunflower.  We added a 3-D butterfly or bee.  You just have your kiddos tape a pipe cleaner on the back of the butterfly or bee and poke it through the paper and tape it on the back.  My students thought this was awesome!:)

Now it was time to write about what we learned.

 We are done! Yay!

We are so excited to share this plant bundle of activities! Right at a 100 pages!  Lots of ELA and Math print and go sheets, 2 scoot games, word sorts, and read around the room cards.  We just finished recording the Plant Song and our kiddos love it! It is a fun and upbeat song that teaches the plant cycle. There is a book with colored pages that has the words to it and a coloring book for your kiddos to color and follow right along with you.

I just cut the pages and made a Plant Song Big Book because my kiddos love big books!

Here is just a page from the book.  The kiddos got a black and white copy to color.

This is one of my kiddos using their coloring book to answer one of the worksheets that is included.  My students loved coloring the book that has the words to the rocking plant song!
This is one of our color coded math sheets that are great at math time or as a morning sheet.
One of the 5 Print and Go Vowel Sheets
There are 2 Fun Missing Addend Scoot Games or there is cute manipulatives you could use in a center to help the kiddos answer these math task cards.
There are Read Around the. Room Task Cards with our mascot, Quentin the Quality Penguin.  My kiddos love to see Quentin!
These are a sample of the 21 word families that your kiddos can sort in Reading Groups or in ELA Centers.
These are Task Cards that can also be used in a center or as a Scoot Game.
This is one of the cut and paste sheets.

Grab this FREEBIE to sample a few of the pages from this 100 page bundle. We would really appreciate a nice comment when y'all download it and follow our store so you will be notified of all our FREEBIES and new products.
