Happy Mother's Day Freebie!:)

Free for Mother's Day:  Hope your students will learn a lot of May Vocabulary Words with this!  My students have increased their vocabulary with these calendars and they have helped my kiddos with their writing each month.

These are a few samples of my student's April writings using the April Calendar Words.

This was where one of my little guys used the word "traditions" from our December Calendar Words.  It was so exciting to see him use this word and remember it was from our calendar words.  He asked me if he could circle it because it was a calendar word.  Some of my kiddos will actually say"That is one of our calendar words" when they see it in a book.

This is one of my ELL students.

This is also one of my ELL students that is in Reading Recovery. I am so proud of this little guy!  He has come so far!

This kiddo needed two pages to do his story.

Here is our April Words big book for the classroom.  It's a great reinforcer for vocabulary.

This is a fun game that my kiddos love to play!  It has questions about the May Calendar Words.

This is where my kiddos are playing this Brain Bounce game as a read around the room.  They read the question and write the answer on the recording sheet.  You can also divide them into teams to play or use the cards as a center.

This is the copy of the student calendar that comes with our Word of the Day Calendars.  My students were using them to help them with Brain Bounce.  The ELL teacher said our Word of the Day Products are really helping her ELL students with learning monthly vocabulary in a fun way.

This gives the kiddos practice with the Calendar Words as they put the words in correct sentence order.

This is a page from the April Activities.  They cut and glue the words in order.   You can have them highlight the calendar words.  May has cute flowerpots to cut out.

Then they copy and illustrate the sentence.

Then there is a bonus question for every page.

This is a fun game where the kiddos look for word chunks in the Calendar Words.

I always tell my kiddos that they are going to be word detectives as they look for word crumbs in their calendar words.  It would also be fun to give them magnifying glasses and do this as a center.  We have 3 versions of how your kiddos can play this Quest Game.  There are 18 task cards, a word list, recording sheet, answer sheet, teaching guide and directions.

We hope ya'll have a wonderful Mother's Day!  Check back for Fun Friday:)

Fun Friday: Word Of The Day Activities

This is  one of my kiddos writing her April story using words from our Word of  the Day calendar.  We have a word of the day that we write in our Calendar notebooks everyday.  The students write the word and how many syllables the word has.  They use these words to help them in writing, so these words have helped my kiddos with vocabulary development as well as writing.

Here is another example .

I had to show ya'll how this little guy used "traditions" in his story.  The cool part of that is the word was from our December Word of the Day Calendar.  It just thrills me to see how our kiddos are remembering the words and using them in their writing! :)

This is our May Calendar that is available now with words about Cinco de Mayo, Plants, Mother's Day and Memorial Day.  We have also included a pattern that the kiddos love to figure out.  There is a black and white student copy of the calendar and a list of definitions of the words.  Check it out and see how your students' vocabulary increases and how their writing improves.

These kiddos are studying their April Calendar Words before we play our Brain Bounce Game.

I decided to tape the April Calendar Words all around the classroom and let the kiddos write their answers on the answer sheet.  We also have divided the class into two teams and let them take turns to read and answer the questions on the cards and get points for their teams.  They love to play Brain Bounce!  You could have your students do this one day and check the papers together and play Brain Bounce another day if you wanted.

I loved how some of my kiddos used their calendar notebooks to help them!

These kiddos used their copies of the April calendars to help them.

This is my awesome ELL teacher who was helping one of our ELL students with the words.  The great part of this is when she told me how well he was getting the answers to the questions.  She told me these Word of the Day Products that we use really help ELL students with vocabulary in a fun non-threatening way.  I was very happy to hear that!:)

Here is the May Brain Bounce.  We hope ya'll will check it out.

We also have this  fun game where your kiddos find word chunks in the Words of the Day.   We just thought "Crumbs" sounded better:) My students love to find their own words or crumbs in the words.

These are print and go sheets for your kiddos to practice the Words of the Day by cutting out the words and gluing them in the correct sentence order, writing the sentence, illustrating it and  completing a bonus question.

Fun Friday Activity: Benjamin Franklin

How cool is this!  A few of my kiddos made Benjamin Franklin with pattern blocks.  Do ya'll see the key?  They even included the lightning:)

These are a few of the books we used .  Then my students took their own notes.

They copied their notes onto kite shape lined paper.
Then they glued it to the back of a kite shaped tagboard.

The kiddos divided the front of their kites into 4 parts and drew a picture of Ben Franklin's accomplishments in each part.  They added a real key to the string of the kite.

Here are a few samples of our finished kites.

 Lots of good writing!

 I also love their pictures!

We hope you enjoyed our Fun Friday project!

We will be involved in a Blog Hop for Teacher Appreciation on May 5.  Hope you will check that out!
